Mr. Dan Stewart, HJHS Principal

Mr. Stewart brings 9 years of experience in education, having served as: Teacher & Soccer Coach at Salem High School, Teacher & Athletic Director at Litchfield High School, Teacher at Mulberry Grove and Dean of Students at HJHS. 

Mr. Stewart holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Secondary Education, Social Science. Outside of school, Mr. Stewart has been married to his wife, Jenna (a teacher in Litchfield), for 15 years. They have two daughters, ages 11 and 4. He enjoys golfing and spending time at the lake.

His goals include continuing his education and mastering his role in administration. He is excited to work alongside the HJHS staff, students, and community — building on the great work already being done while finding new ways to help students succeed.

Mr. Ben Cunningham, HJHS Assistant Principal

Hillsboro Junior High School is excited to welcome Mr. Ben Cunningham as our Assistant Principal for the 2026-2027 school year.

Mr. Cunningham is no stranger to HJHS. He previously served as a teacher at Hillsboro Junior High before spending the past year as a principal in Taylorville, Illinois. His experience as both a classroom teacher and school administrator gives him a strong understanding of what students, families, and staff need to be successful

Mr. Cunningham says he is honored to return to Hillsboro Junior High in this new role. HJHS has always been a special place to me, and he looks forward to working alongside HJHS students, staff, and families to create an environment where everyone feels supported, challenged, and inspired to succeed.
